Lawmakers look to tax facelifts; the fabulous cry foul

Of her cosmetic surgery she says...

"This is an unfair tax on women," said Haeck, editor of Plastic Surgery News. "The bulk of the people who have procedures are not financially upper-class women. They've saved hard, and this is about restoring their self-esteem."

Wakefield, for one, wants people to know she paid for her own nips and tucks.

"I'm not married to some rich guy," she said. "I worked my butt off for this."

For what... A new butt? :-)

Bush's War

War as Enertainment

In a world wherer people get their history from Hollywood (was the last Samuri REALLY and American?) and where the major "hard news" comes from sources which make a living from blurring the line bewteen new and entertainment, can this be a good thing?

This will become the new medium of propaganda. Why? Simple - losing wars are not good for ratings. Humvess with scavenged scrap instead of armor don't have the romance of mean and modern (looking) fighting machines. Look for covert, at first, media sponsorships of "featured units". Discovery will only contribute a bit so all the guys have body armor. But in the end the Good Guys will always win - on TV.
